Hope you don't mind this here as there isn't a tech support board on here yet. (1st paragraph repeated from my G+ post)
Alright, I just hit the end of this road. Does anyone out there have any experience with custom roms for the Galaxy Note 8.0? They exist, but their devs don't seem to give a care in the world about the S-pen. It's never mentioned in the features, and some roms users report they phase it out altogether. It's almost the primary reason to go with this tablet.
I would stay on stock rom and just freeze the bloatware, but on the last firmware update they threw the pen out of calibration. On top of that, it also introduced some crazy new lock that makes downgrading a pain.
There's something strange about this tablet. I've seen real old gen phones have a more helpful user base than this thing. It's all kind of muddy out there.

I eluded at ReviewLagoon that the Note 8 is kinda a "chick" tablet. May be why there is no support.
Were you able to get the thing calibrated?

Not yet. The rom I had found (mentioned on G+) didn't flash right (it kept booting to recovery), but since then I had to re-root and have a completely different recovery installed. I got kind of burned out on dealing with it, so I flashed back to stock so I could just try to enjoy it for what it is. In a few days I'm gonna give it another shot. In the end if there is no way to calibrate, from what I understand the stylus was most accurate on 4.1, so I should be able to flash a stock rom of that. Fortunately that protection thing, KNOX, is not as much of a pain as I was led to believe.

And thank you for being an ear for my panicking. I've rooted 3 devices and put custom roms on 2 of them before this one, you'd think I'd be more confident at this point.

Alright, final update: SUCCESS! I I installed this rom: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759863 While not quite expressed in it's details, I found out from someones post that it does indeed fix the stylus calibration, and I am happy to report that they were right.
